Riptide Ministry

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Morgan Perry! My best friend, Jenna, and I are asking for donations to start a ministry we feel like the Lord has told us to pursue! Here is our story!

Riptide Ministry

At camp this year, The Lord revealed his calling he has for me. Ministry. It wasn't a specific calling. I didn't know what kind of ministry or even where to start, but I knew that is what I would do. Riptide Ministry became real life on Tuesday, July 7, 2015! I had the word “ministry” on my heart all day, but I just kind of blew it off. Later that day, I was sitting on Jenna Morris’s bed, sharing my heart for people with her, and then Jenna started screaming at the top of her lungs, and I frantically tried to figure out what was wrong. After she stopped screaming, she told me she had a vision. The vision in Jenna’s words: “Morgan was standing on a stage in front of a huge group of people speaking so passionately, sharing her heart for people.” At the same time, we started screaming! (Girl Moment— Don’t Judge!) At the same time we said, “LETS START A MINISTRY!” We knew in that moment that our hearts for our future ministry would change our lives forever! We talked about wanting to meet up with Kenna Hammack and Tori Wiliford to share our hearts with them and listen to their testimony about starting Baba’s Glory. We spent some time in prayer and we specifically prayed for The Lord to show us some obvious signs that this ministry was something He wanted us to pursue! We decided to go to Starbucks. We were there for about ten minutes and Faith Brodie pulled up, and then Tori pulled up right behind her. We got to share with them about the ministry, and then Tori told us Kenna was coming! That was an OBVIOUS sign from God! We got to visit with Tori and Kenna for 2 hours about our hearts and their experiences!
One thing Jenna and I struggled with was finding a name for our ministry. Tori had shared with us that they didn't have a name for their ministry for 3 years! That was hard to swallow. I personally had a hard time letting my heart dream without a name! We spent three days in prayer, and came up with a couple different names, but we really didn't feel like those were the one! On Friday, July 10, 2015, Jenna told me to pray into the word “Riptide” for our name, so I did. That night, Jenna and I went to a worship night at the church with Kenna and a couple other people! We shared with the group about what was going on in our hearts for this ministry, and then went into a time of worship! As I was meditating, I had a vision of me speaking to the nations and my words were hitting the crowd like a riptide! I shared my vision with Jenna and she looked at me with wide eyes and said, “I was just praying that The Lord would tell me a name, but then I started asking him to reveal it to you! (Talking about me- Morgan)” Jenna and I spent some more time in prayer together and I asked for God to show us some obvious signs! The next thing I heard was David singing “Jesus paid it all, all to him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain he WASHED it white as snow.” I asked God to show me seven blue things in the room, and he did! Then the next song started. “He is jealous for me. His love is like a HURRICANE…” Afterwards, we were visiting with our friend, Coleton, and he told us that he knew we would know our name by the end of the day. He also told us that he had a vision of running water, but he didn’t know why. In that moment we knew that we found a name! Riptide Ministry! The next thing God revealed to us was our mission statement, “Come to the water, you who thirst, and you’ll thirst no more!”

Now to answer some questions you might have.

Where?
For right now, we don't feel like The Lord is calling us to a certain place, so right now we are just going to pursue the Ministry here in Abilene, Texas until we feel like we have a specific location.

Who?
Our hearts for this ministry is for people in general. Specifically, we want to reach out to middle school students and older.

What is our heart?
Our heart is that we can share with people through speaking. (Conferences, vlogs, blogs, podcasts, etc.) Our heart is that all the people, everyone, understands the true relationship that we as Christians often miss out on. It’s not just a checklist, it’s not just a lifestyle. There is a relationship that Jesus is dying for us to understand!
