This is going to be the bravest thing I have ever done; ask for help! I am the one who usually helps and advocates for others more than I do for myself. I was talking to a close friend about my aspiration to become a Mediator, and the requirement that I have either a Law Degree or 3-4 years of Law Experience and Mediation Hands-On Practicum to become a State of California Certified Mediator. My friend suggested that I open a GoFundMe page to raise the money for the education and hands on training. So here I am, on a path to turn my dreams into a Reality.
I am a single mother of 3, a single boy and a set of twins, a boy and a girl. I received my Bachelors of Science in Business Administration Management at San Francisco State University in 2013, and am in the process of finishing my Master Thesis in Human Development and Social Change through Pacific Oaks College. In January 2016, I am due to start Law School at Taft University. I anticipate receiving my JD in 2020, and will then complete a hands-on practicum course at the Berkeley SEEDS Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center.
I am attempting to raise money for my upcoming Law Education, Books and Hands-On Practicum, which will enable me to open a Non-Profit Agency funded by grants to provide free Mediation Services and Family Unity/Co-Parenting classes to the following DisAdvantaged Groups, the Aging, the Disabled and our Youth in the Community.
I will be using the donated funds for:
Year 1 Tuition $7,920.00
Year 1 Books $1,554.85
Year 2 Tuition $8,415.00
Year 2 Books $1,813.95
Year 3 Tuition $8,415.00
Year 3 Books $1,597.90
Year 4 Tuition $8,415.00
Year 4 Books $2,087.00
Hands-on Training $3,000.00
Total Funds needed is $36,218.70
I have already paid my $100 Enrollment Commitment Fee to Taft University. The funds collected here will be used starting in December 2015. I will open a separate bank account that will only be used for academic purposes.
