Jade Marie Hudson's medical care

At 2 yrs old Jade was diagnosed with Brain Cancer. After a shocking diagnosis emergency brain surgery was performed. Despite the many complications the brain surgeon explained Jade made a FULL recovery with no deficit! The surgeon removed a tumor the size of an orange from Jade's brain stem.

Since the brain tumor was found to be in fact cancer chemotherapy was the next step. Jade underwent several months of chemo, blood transfusions, sugeries, regular MRI's and finally finished on 7/10/15. The Doctors said it was highly unlikely that anything would grow back as they felt confident they got the entire tumor and that the chemotherapy performed was very effective.  Jade had an end of chemo MRI on 8/4/15 and her brain was completely clear, no disease was found! Jade spent the next month as a normal kid and celebrated her 3rd birthday with many family and friends.

On 9/5/15 Jade started showing signs of a severe stomach flu. We took her into the hospital and with an uneasy feeling we requested a CT scan just to make sure nothing had grown back. Unfortunately the CT did show a new tumor now in the front of Jade's brain. On 9/8/15 a MRI was performed to reveal the cancer had in fact grown back and spread. Jade now had a new tumor in the front of her brain, the orignal tumor on the brain stem was back and it was now down Jade's spine. With the cancer spreading so fast and to so many places surgery was not an option as it was very evasive and recovery time would jeopardize additional spreading.

We were sent to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) to meet with a brain tumor specialists as Kaiser Fontana where Jade had been undergoing treatment  was not experienced in something like this and did not have the knowledge on how to treat Jade's case. After meeting with the specialist he finally gave us hope when so many at Kaiser said nothing can be done. He had explained Jade would now need to undergo very hard extensive chemo, stem cell transplants and possibly radiation. His plan was to go in hard with the chemo as the amount of radiation she would need at this time would effect her ever being able to live independently. The chemo will be very tough he explained. It will essentially knock her down completely but it is what he feels confident will give this fast spreading cancer the best fight! Since that meeting things are moving fast. Bone scan to see if the cancer has spread to her bones, surgery to remove her chest port and to implant a new chemo line directly in her chest to be able to withstand everything they will be giving to Jade then starting chemo. One week of hard chemo then it will take three weeks to recover will result in hospital stays and trips back and forth to CHLA. Once she is recovered we start the chemo/recovery process again.

As parents we are devastated and the thought of losing our baby girl that is our everything scare Us to our core. However we will not give up and we will keep fighting for and with Jade!

Thank you all for your love, support and for thinking of Jade. We appreciate everything more then we could ever express.
