Zoe hoping for Nationals
Donation protected
Zoe has identified a few wakeboarding competitions that she wants to reach for this summer, and she needs help with entry fees and travel to get there. Thanks to Go Fund Me and private donations, she reached her original goal to cover the cost of traveling to Argentina for the Pan-Am Wakeboard Championships February 12-15, 2015! She placed 6th in her division and served as one of four on Team USA. Zoe has only been wakeboarding for a year and is a natural... she's ready for more! Help her get to Nationals!
My name is Zoe Luquette. I live in Las Vegas, and last spring, decided to try something new. I applied for National Junior Honor Society and realized I had the same profile as all the other girls my age... smart, plays soccer and volleyball, always doing the right thing. I wanted to do something different from all the other kids. I wanted to find MY thing. My mom was understanding and told me to do some research on some things that might be fun to try; horseback riding, hiking, swimming, water polo, all kinds of things came up. But then I came across Las Vegas Water Sports website. I was so excited to learn more! We reached out to them, and they invited me out to try a few different boards. I was a natural at the wakeboard. I felt at home and exhilerated at the same time. I practiced for a few weeks, and Coach suggested that I sign up to compete in the INT League of Nevada. My first competition was literally 4 weeks after my first boat ride EVER in my LIFE! I did great and continued to compete with INT in Nevada, then another one in SoCal, and then I found myself traveling to California to work with Andy and Austin Polterock to master my skills even further. At the end of my first season wakeboarding, I found myself in 2nd place in the Western Regionals and ranked 4th in the Nation for my level at INT League. On January 16th, I received my letter, inviting me to represent the United States of America in the Pan-Am Wakeboard Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina! I was SOOOOO EXCITED! Unfortunately, my family did't have the funds to cover the trip, and I was looking to let this dream go. Me and my parents talked it over and decided to go full speed ahead with a campaign to raise the funds through private donations and sponsorships. It was a shot in the dark, but I HAD to give it a try! Guess what... IT WORKED! Thanks to my generous sponsors, Go Fund Me, and private donations, I was able to compete on the USA Team in Buenos Aires, Argentina in February. It was the most amazing experience of my life and has challenged me to do better and better. I hope to be able to continue with competitions throughout the US this summer and need help to cover the costs of entry fees and travel. If you feel like helping a girl out, I am a hard worker and a great leader amongst my peers.
Thank you for your consideration... It is very much appreciated!
