EMPOWERING MINDS FOR TOMORROW is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping young people overcome their barriers to success. EMT recognizes the constant state of emergency in underrepresented communities and its leaders and volunteers believe individual empowerment can help bring change. Therefore, at EMT they urgently and carefully help transport people to a place where they can identify challenges and envision their own success. One form of success EMT believes in is education.
COLLEGE ENTRY SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: MISSION: ENTRY
EMPOWERING MINDS FOR TOMORROW has launched a campaign called Mission: Entry. This campaign is designed to award scholarships to high-achieving, low-income students from underserved communities across New York City to use to apply to a college of their choice.
EMT works with high schools, community-based organizations, and other non-profits to identify students who are low-income and high-achieving and want to apply to college but may not have the means to pay for all of their college application fees.
Students are vetted through an application process which includes a personal essay, high school transcript, and a demographic information sheet. The goal of EMT is to raise money to pay the college entry fees for low-income, high-achieving, high-performing students across the 5 boroughs of New York City.
THE NEED
Please donate to support young people who dream of attending college. College entry fees for Top Tier Universities and Ivy League Colleges can cost between $75 - $90 per application! The average application fee is $50 per institution. For low-income families, this stops students from applying to schools they may qualify for academically but cannot afford financially.
WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAM?
The goal is to provide qualified students with a grant of $200. To be eligible, the student must complete a MISSION: ENTRY Application located on the EMPOWERING MINDS FOR TOMORROW website at www.emtsuccess.org
THE SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship application deadline is midnight May 31st. Scholarship winners are selected within 7 days of application deadline. Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $200 per awardee.
