7Hello! Our names are Renee and Sasha. We are two young adults who have set out to start our lives. I am a veterinary technician student and will be continuing my education this spring transferring from Polk State College to Hilsbourough Community College's distance learning program. I work as a waitress and as a crew member at a pizza place. Renee is a licensed esthetician who moved here last month from South Florida. She waitresses and is currently trying to find a job in her career field.
We both were given the opportunity to move to Lakeland into a house that two of the three tenants were moving out of. Because we both needed a place to live we jumped at the opportunity!
However unknowingly those tenants broke the lease in multiple ways, by owning pets, not taking care of the house, and lying to the landlord.
Renee took it upon ourselves to take care of the house and fix it up so that it was in livable condition. There was a flea infestation we did not cause but paid to fix, we have cleaned the house, gotten the yard taken care of and brought furniture because the house had none. We also had to pay to have the electric, water, and Internet put into my name because the previous tenant owed both of those companies a combined $1000
However, when we attempted to get on the lease we found out that the tenants had broken their lease and now we were facing eviction unless we come up with a new deposit and pay for a pet deposit to fix the damage the animals previously housed there caused. The total is $1070 and we have to come up with that by Monday July 27th. This will give us a brand new lease and the security of having a roof over our heads. Rent will be due the week after that and Renee have entered panic mode. We have together only $700 of that, so we are reaching out hoping that people will understand and lend us a hand. We would appreciate anything in our time of need. Neither of us have had to do anything like this before, but we love where we live and we want to build our lives there.
We are hard working individuals who never ask for handouts, but we've been thrown into something that even though we didn't cause we are now taking care of.
