Preservation of Historic Church in the Holy City

Trinity United Methodist Church (Charleston, SC) congregation was founded On February 27, 1785 and consisted of 35 white and 23 black members by 1786. In 1926, Trinity purchased the present church on Meeting Street from Westminster Presbyterian Church. The cornerstone of the structure had been laid on August 10, 1848. The membership today consists of approximately 70 households.

Trinity UMC suffered roof damages during the historic storms and flooding this past fall and needs $100,000 to preserve this beautiful, historic, Charleston landmark sanctuary.  The current membership is working towards this goal, but could use your help.  Any amount would be greatly appreciated.

The church building itself is beautiful and worth preserving. Photographer, Steven Hyatt took pictures of the beautiful building that he featured in his collection “The Churches of the World Photo Project” (See Steven’s Pictures Here ).

Even if you are not able to make a financial donation, Trinity UMC would appreciate your prayers as we work towards this large goal for our congregation.  We would also love to have you visit our church if you are in the Holy City!

Thanks and God Bless!
