Behind the request: The Story of Heather and Raine
I own and ride a registered Morgan gelding named Northline Rainmaker. I have raised him from a weanling to his current age of 14 years and trained him myself. we have competed locally, and a few times provincially, where he had multiple wins and success. What makes this so remarkable is that he is half blind. I also have overcome obstacles. I survived a horrific car accident where I had broken both femurs in multiple places, as well as other injuries, making the doctors doubt I'd ever walk again. Well...here we both are, once again reaching for the stars.
Because my family lacks the money to compete and travel to many shows, I am looking for help to compete at the Morgan Horse Classic, a provincial horse show held in Palgrave this July. This is not only for me but for my niece as well. My niece, Paige, is stepping up into the show world. Her mount will be the trusty Rainmaker, who will teach her what hard work, determination and success feels like. It is the passing of a torch.
Rainmaker has won many awards, and we have worked very hard to achieve those awards. We were able to show in the past due to my father finding us sponsoring from a few local businesses. When he passed, I struggled to find sponsors.
Please take a look at the stories at the beginning and end of this request, and consider sponsoring a team such as ours. Our story touches the hearts of many.
God blessed me with a wonderful equine partner who has overcome so much and helped me do the same. I need to raise $2000, which includes entry fees, trailering to/from Palgrave, lodging for my niece and me, tack repairs or replacements, lessons, show clothes (as we are in need) and if we have enough money, compete in quality shows for preparation and standings.
