Gary Tetro Medical Fundraiser
Donation protected
This is a letter written by my mother, Janet Tetro, on behalf of her husband, my father, Gary Tetro.
I’m writing for my husband, Gary Tetro a self-employed contractor. Gary is a loving husband, father of four, happy grandfather, and excited great grandfather.
For the past year he has suffered from health issues that have affected his livelihood and nearly prevented him from visiting his granddaughter for the birth of his great grandson. He has endured a painful year plus long wound on the bottom outside edge of his right foot in the fifth (little) toe area. This has made walking difficult and painful and has limited all physical activities.
Because of this injury, nights were no longer restful as Gary would wake up several times during the night in pain. Work became excruciating. Working construction the long hours on his feet were torture and many times it seemed to jeopardize his ability to work resulting in business income being reduced. Household chores became impossible. Exhausted from work and in severe pain, he finds it difficult to do work at home like mowing the lawn or gathering winter fire wood.
During this past year the Doctors have tried many ways to heal the wound. Gary is a diabetic and the wound did not respond favorably. In early July an infection set in the foot and spread to the little toe bones. After six weeks of very strong IV antibiotics his body failed to get rid of the infection.
Unfortunately the best option for the injury to his foot was to undergo surgery to amputate the affected area---the right fifth toe (phalange) and most of the metatarsal. The surgery took place on Friday, September 16, 2016.
Medical costs for the surgery are not fully covered by insurance as well as physical therapy, prosthesis, special therapy equipment, etc. Gary will be expected to literally be off his feet for several weeks to recuperate. Because he will be off his feet for several weeks, there will be a great loss of income during this time. We are asking for donations to help cover the medical costs and loss of income during his recovery. Any amount you can donate will be gratefully appreciated. Please, please help us in our time of need.
Thank You & God Bless You,
Janet M. Tetro
