Bryson's Surgery and Helmets
Donation protected
Our son, Bryson , was diagnosed with Craniosynostosis when he was 2 months old. Craniosynostosis is when the sutures of a baby's skull fuse together prematurely. Without surgical correction, Bryson's brain wouldn't have had enough room to properly grow. In Bryson's case, his metopic suture was completely fused when he was born.
October 12, 2015 (3 months old) Bryson had endoscopic cranial surgery to open up his metopic suture. He had minimal swelling and we were able to leave the hospital after three days. Two weeks after surgery, Bryson received his first helmet. The helmet is required post surgery to help guide and then hold his skull to the proper shape. This is a long procedure and he will be in a helmet for six months to a year post surgery.
Our insurance (BCBS State) covers the cost for only one helmet per an individual's life time. Since Bryson is an infant and growing every day he will require two possibly three helmets. The cost of each helmet is $2, 600. We are required to pay for this out-of-pocket.
Thank you in advance for your donation towards the cost of Bryson's surgery and helmets
