McKenzies Journey to 2016 Nationals

My name is McKenzie Walker and I am a 16 year old female wrestler.  Currently I wrestle for Gloucester High School and on the National Team for Virginia Women's Wrestling Association. I began wrestling when I was 7 and absolutely love it.    
       
In Virginia there is not a high school program for female wrestlers so those of us that choose to wrestle must do so on the guys team.  I just finished my Sophomore season, placing 3rd at 5A Pen-South Conference 10.  

Later this month I will begin my 3rd season wrestling for Virginia Women's Wrestling.  In addition to tournaments in Virigina, I will be competing in tournaments in New York, Oklahoma, and Texas.  The season ends in July with those that have qualified competing at the Cadet/Junior Freestyle Nationals in Fargo, ND.   After qualifying last season, I placed 8th in both Cadet and Junior, earning my 4th and 5th All American titles.

I am very excited about this season and look forward to representing myself, my state, and my sport.  Since the women's season is self funded, I have started this campaign in hopes of helping raise money to cover some of the travel and tournament costs for my Journey to Fargo.
