Kati Lepisto's inspirational life story

What do you know about LOCKED-IN SYNDROME? LIS for short is a condition where the patient is fully aware of everything but cannot make their muscles move. They are completely paralyzed and they cannot even communicate (speak).

Imagine yourself on the moon, an echo of silence surrounds you as the cold bitterly embraces you, everything begins to ache, you become stiff from the cold and can no longer move. You are trapped under a pitch "“ black sky, you try to scream and nothing comes out, any sound at all, no one is there to understand you or your pain. Trapped! How will YOU handle this situation. 90% of those with this condition die within the first 4 months. this story is about 1 of those that belongs to the 10%.


An inspirational story, of how to keep on living your life at its fullest despite of her disability.


Kati Lepisto a young Finnish model who was left in a state of locked-in inside of herself after suffering a stroke at the age of 20. Suffering of a symptom called "˜Locked-In Syndrome' (LIS), Kati remained almost completely paralyzed and not being able to do anything for herself. Kati needs assistant for every single thing, yet she refuses to live in misery, she keeps her face to the sun and refuses to drown in the shadows of life. She does all this by pure positivism, perseverance and an incredible will to live. This is a story that needs to be told and share with the world.


People often ask Kati; "How can you be living a full and happy life being completely paralyzed, what is your secret?" Well, there is no secret, I is just an attitude of living life the best way possible despite all circumstances.


Kati is working on a book that tells the whole story, from the beginning to the end. A book that is meant to be an inspiration to all, a book that will show that everything is possible no matter what the situation is. This is a story that shows that being alive is ultimate miracle, and as long as you are alive you can great life, it is all inside yourself. Take it from someone that is locked inside herself.
