Chiraq is a nickname given to America’s third largest city, Chicago, because there have been more murders and violence that occur in Chicago than the war in Iraq. Over the years, this tainted title has only steered attention to murder, robbery, gangs, and acts of violence, ignoring the more positive contributions that hail from the city. The exposure of this misconception is destroying the confidence of the youth, and blinding the sight of their full potential.
The city of Chicago has bred, influenced, and encouraged numerous leaders and innovators throughout many generations. The term Chiraq has shadowed the history, future, and legacy of the city. Now Lyssen along with Chicago producer Travis Oscar, and Chicago activist Enisha Valentine have teamed up to encourage the residents of Chicago to embrace their abilities and take a stand for the city. Together they are publicizing various resource organizations throughout Chicago and the United States, which have a passion for growth, youth, community, and family development.
