Generation H.O.P.E Fundraising Initiative
 
We, students of Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ), are launching a fundraising campaign to help our fellow colleagues pay their tuition fees and have access to high quality education. It is our only hope for a better and brighter future and most important weapon to change the world.

For years, Lebanon has witnessed an ongoing multi-faces crisis, a deep-rooted and institutionalized corruption, that was compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic, then by the unhuman 4th of August blast, the third most powerful explosion in the world. These unfortunate events led to the devaluation of the national currency, which, in turn, pushed staple food prices and essential, life-saving medicines beyond the reach of minimum-wage earners, basic needs are hard to get. More than 42% of the population in Lebanon is now unemployed and the money placed at the bank can’t be withdrawn. Adding to the despair, there seems to be no government plan or international aid in sight and not even a light at the end of the tunnel. This led a lot of students in higher education sector to drop out and work minimum-wage jobs in order to support their parents and family.

To support its students, USJ decided to not increase tuition fees for this year.

All that being said, it was obvious for us students that we needed to act. We needed to join forces to Help Others Pursue Education (H.O.P.E.).

And so, “Generation H.O.P.E.” was born!

However big, however small – your contribution will help a student pursue education at USJ.
