Waxhaw Police Department K9 Program
Donation protected
The Waxhaw Police Department is starting a new police K-9 unit within the department. The Waxhaw Police Department is seeking donations through our community, to be able to receive the canines, equip the canines and handlers, and house the canines.
Waxhaw Police Department has already chosen two K9 handlers in place, which will be Officer Billy Mills and Officer Matt Watkins. They are both extremely hard workers in the Police Department and have recently took it upon themselves to better our department and the community. They have been steadily working on this project for over a year and we are now ready to put this unit into action, but we need the help of the community to allow it to happen.
There is no match for a well-trained K9 unit. When the K9 and handler works as a team, they will be able to perform multiple task at one time. With an active unit within Waxhaw, it has the potential to save the loss of lives, to save the amount of hours for officers, and to reduce the amount of drug activities within the community. The canine will also be a valuable training asset to local schools and other community events by assisting in drug prevention programs and demonstrations.
The Waxhaw Police Department strives to make the community of Waxhaw one of the safest places to live in North Carolina. We believe that with this implementation of the K9 unit, we will see a safer community to live and work in.
The Waxhaw Police Department has the money to sustain the unit, but we will need your generous donations to help us with the startup cost. The money will go toward purchasing the K9, schooling for the K9 and handler, equipment for K9 and handler, K9 kennel for the vehicle, and housing. The Town of Waxhaw knows the potential of a well-trained K9 unit, so they purchased the two vehicles for the K9’s.
We just ask that you help us to better our community. With your donations, it will help us to continue in making this one of the safest places to work and live within North Carolina.
Thank You,
Chief Michael Eiss
