The Weber Wimberley Flood Fund

Sharon and her two sons were visiting her 83 year old father and 82 year old mother for the Memorial Day holiday. Two of Sharon's siblings (brother and a sister) and their spouses were also visiting. Around 1:00 in the morning the water started flooding into her parent's first floor building. Within minutes the glass doors and windows in the living room busted open and water started rushing in to their parent's home. The family moved to the second floor and when the water rose inside the house to 8 feet they had to evacuate out of a second floor window to the roof using sheets tied together as a safety rope; with Sharon acting as a human step-stool and her brother hauling the aging parents up and onto the roof. They sat in the pitch black for 3 hours while the sounds of the neighboring houses being ripped off their foundations filled their ears and prayed that lightening wouldn't strike the metal roof they were perched upon.

They eventually were helped by a rescue crew but had to lower themselves down the same way they had gone up. They are all bruised and banged up - but ALIVE! One of the main walls did buckle but the house was still standing. The first floor of the house is completely destroyed. They are hopeful that the home can be salvaged and they are already starting the cleanup. Four of their cars were washed away and Sharon's wasn't found until the following Wednesday night, burried under a tree and completely totaled as shown in the profile picture.  Like many of the families impacted, they are without flood insurance and are facing tremendous expense to rebuild their lives.
