Africa Fest 2019

Tax deductible
The African Association of Madison, Inc. (AAM) produces Africa Fest and invites you to donate to this cultural and educational showcase.

Africa Fest is an annual celebration which educates and promotes diversity by showcasing African cultural heritages to residents in the Greater Madison area via Stage Performances, Arts & Crafts, Taste of Africa and Strides For Africa. Internationally acclaimed “Dobet Gnahore & Na Afriki Band” from Cote d’Ivoire is our Presenting Artiste in concert with our local performing groups.

This year is Africa Fest’s 21st Anniversary and the theme is: "Celebrating Africa's Great Civilizations In the Diaspora". Africa Fest 2019 will be showcasing the richness of  the African Great Civilizations through indigenous showcases.

Africa Fest 2019 is scheduled for Saturday, August 17 from 10:00 am - 10:00 pm at McPike Park (formerly Central Park), 202 S. Ingersoll Street, Madison, WI. The event comes with free admission to the public.

AAM strives to maintain the significance and importance of instilling our pride and our reverence in our Africa Fest showcases. The production substantially helps in celebrating and accommodating our differences in our fast-growing diverse communities.  A result of this achievement is that Africa Fest has become unique and now known as a Madison summer celebration. It has become one of the premier festivals of the summer within the Great Lakes region. Many are thrilled and some travel far to attend our annual festival in Madison; some to re-invigorate themselves in their cultural heritage and others to gain an understanding of the significance of African culture.

However, AAM is a non-profit organization and depends on contributions/grants from many sources to fund the festival.  Our donations defray the festival expenses and create matching funds for grant/corporate sponsorships. We therefore encourage you to support Africa Fest by making a monetary donation. You may conveniently donate any amount at any number of times.

Our donations also allow funding for potable water-well projects in rural Africa. Drinkable water wells have been constructed in rural areas of Ethiopia, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Rwanda from past support. These projects enriches the lives of those less fortunate and who may otherwise succumb to diseases borne from contaminated water.

In addition, our donations allow for funding of our scholarship program which is awarded annually to successful high school graduates pursuing a college education. Five such scholarships are awarded every year.

As you can see, our donations goes a long way, aside from staging the festival itself. The success of Africa Fest depends very much on our donations. So, please join us and donate generously.

We know we can count on you and thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,
