Bring Lucie Home

On Wednesday November 28th Lucie went in to have a laproscopic hysterectomy.  She went home shortly after with no issues.  Thursday she was having a lot of pain but decided to try and tough it out. That’s just how Lucie is, she’s a tough girl.  But by Friday morning she knew something wasn’t right so she and her mother headed to the local emergency room.  They told her she had infection and transferred her by ambulance to Wichita.  Shortly after arriving to Wichita things went south rapidly.  Lucie began having trouble breathing and they had to intubate her (put a tube in and breathe for her). That afternoon they took her back to surgery and found a tear in her small intestine.  That portion of her intestine was removed.  Her ovaries were also twisted.   Because Lucie is in septic shock she was not stable enough to finish the surgery and allow closure.  So they placed a sterile dressing and wound vac. They have placed her on dialysis and hope she will become more stable by this Sunday in order to return to surgery and close her abdomen.   Lucie is a mother to Nalla (2) and Curtis (8months).  She is a loving wife to my brother Lane.  She is a full time employee but currently has no paid leave.  Lane is works full time and is a full time student.  Lane has very little paid leave.  To say this is a time of need for this young family is an understatement.  If you can only offer a prayer we would gladly accept.  We just want Lucie to come home to her babies and Lane.  We want to see her smile. We want to see her beautiful eyes full of life.
