Anyone can make an effective fundraising video

The easiest way to increase your donations is to create a video for your fundraiser. You don’t need to be an expert to make an attention-grabbing video. All you need is your computer or phone to get started. The following tips will help you wow donors with professional-looking video.

Key information to include

1

Who is the fundraiser’s beneficiary?

2

How much money are you raising?

3

What will the funds be used for?

What story are you telling?

1. Telling your story

Open up and let viewers get to know you and what you need. Donors will form a deeper connection if you tell your story honestly.

Tip: Talking to a camera doesn’t come easy to everyone. Try writing out a short script to read from to make it easier.

2. Telling someone else’s story

If you are raising money for someone else, or perhaps an organization, then your video should reflect that. Introduce viewers to exactly what they will be helping by donating to your cause.

Tip: Collect extra footage that you can add to a video later. Ideal places to film are at fundraising events or other interactions with the beneficiary or volunteers.

3. Challenge your donors

Invite donors to participate in a challenge. For instance, everyone remembers the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Your fundraiser is more likely to go viral if there is an engaging and fun challenge connected to your cause.

Make note: You must upload your video to YouTube before you can add it to your fundraiser page.
