My sister & her husband were told by their insurance agent that they didn't need flood insurance. Then their town was inundated with over 20 inches of rain (Madison WI area). Caryn had to be rescued when her car floated away on her way home from work. Their basement filled to the ceiling with flood water. The water then rose up to the ground floor, topping out at about 2 feet deep. Their furnace, hot water heater, dishwasher, washer & dryer, two refrigerators, piano, antiques, electronics, furniture, craft supplies, photos, holiday decor, cabinetry, floors, walls, carpets, everything... trashed. The home is currently a mucky biohazard and uninhabitable. At this time, it's unknown if the extensive damage is repairable or if their home will be condemned. I will update this post as info is made available. Any and all assistance is appreciated.
