Skateboards for Kids - Eli's Mitzvah Project
3/10 UPDATE: WOW! We reached our original goal of $1400 in only a few days. Eli is thrilled and can't believe the support you have for his project. So we've upped the goal to $2000 because we still have people wanting to give and we'll get even more skateboards out to foster kids in Portland. THANK YOU!
UPDATE: Thank you! We've reached beyond our first $350 - so Eli's parents are kicking in their match! And a huge thanks to Unheard Skateboarding for their help getting blem decks (seconds) for this project.
To celebrate his upcoming Bar Mitzvah, Eli Weintraub wanted to give back to our Portland community through an activity that's important to him -- skateboarding.
Eli loves to skateboard and wants other kids to have the chance to skate too. We are working with the nonprofit organization Boards for Bros to hold a board build event in Portland, OR on May 5th to celebrate Eli's Mitzvah Project.
ALL money donations will go directly to Boards for Bros for board building supplies for our board build in Portland. On May 5th, we will gather volunteers together to assemble skateboards.
All completed boards will be donated to foster kids in the Portland area through the organization Embrace Oregon .
Help Eli reach his goal of getting 40 boards and helmets to foster kids in Portland!
$20 buys the parts needed to build a board for a foster child -- including a used deck, wheels, new bearings and trucks. Boards for Bros uses their relationships in the skateboarding industry to source materials at very low cost.
$15 buys a skateboarding-certified new helmet for a foster child.
Total cost for one board + helmet = $35
(100% of your donation will go straight to Boards for Bros for board build supplies for this event)
Eli's parents Scotti & Jeff will match the first $350 in donations! So the first $350 donated will build not just 10 boards, but TWENTY boards for kids.
**We also welcome the donation of gently used skate decks and wheels.
Boards for Bros is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization
EIN: 46-3558737
All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
More information about Boards for Bros: We are committed to giving skateboards to kids who cannot afford them. We use the gift of skateboarding as a tool to teach perseverance, promote exercise and provide an outlet for personal expression.
