We are a logistics company based in Wilmington, NC, and we've made it our mission to give back to our wonderful community.
We were shocked and saddened to find that 1 in 5 children in our very own county struggle with food insecurity and hunger, especially during the holidays, school breaks, and weekends when they cannot gain access to free school lunches. One of the worst times of the year is right now, in January.
No child should experience the devastating consequences of hunger, which is why we have donated to and are raising money for NourishNC, a nonprofit whose mission is to “Provide healthy food to hungry children, empowering them to succeed in the classroom and in their community.”
NourishNC mobilizes volunteers and resources to provide supplemental food assistance to these children who might otherwise go hungry. They are committed to providing our community’s most vulnerable children with nutritious food through a variety of programs:
The Backpack Program: This program is specifically designed to put nutritious food right into the hands of food insecure children. NourishNC provides these children with 3 meals a day, every weekend, and over all school breaks.
Farmer’s MarKid: The MarKID is a direct and hands on approach to improving the health of children in our community. NourishNC takes free, fresh fruits and vegetables to wherever kids need them.
Food Farmacy: Children are screened for food insecurity right inside their doctor’s office. Children found to be food insecure are immediately provided with 25 nonperishable meals. Each child also receives a “prescription” for fresh food and produce.
Toddler Tummies: Nutritious food is sent right into the homes of 1-4 year old children who are under resourced and food insecure. Each child also receives a “prescription” for fresh food and produce.
Pantry Pals: NourishNC provides schools and other nonprofits that serve children with emergency food, fresh fruits & vegetables, and healthy snacks.
If you would like to join us in helping feed the hungry children in our community, we'd love your help. Just $10 feeds a child for the weekend; $35 feeds a child over spring break; and $500 feeds a child for an entire calendar year.
