Help me volunteer abroad!

Dear family, friends and generous strangers,
I am seeking help to endorse a trip I have been longing to complete. I’m a 25 year old student, currently in the Respiratory Therapy program in Chico, CA, which has been a short term goal of mine for the last few years. My long term goal is to become a Physician’s Assistant; I’m eligible to apply for PA school in 2019 after the completion of my Bachelor’s degree in RT and when I have met the required clinical hours needed. My hopes are to be accepted into PA school at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA. As many people know PA school is extremely competitive, furthermore the MPA program is not only looking at one’s GPA, but also one’s core values. I currently volunteer at Enloe Hospital in Chico, CA in the Emergency Department. I have been doing this for almost one year (over 100+ hours) to obtain experience in a hospital environment and have one on one patient contact. I want to enhance my knowledge and experiences by volunteering in a diverse medical setting. This has brought me to finding an amazing program through International Volunteer HQ, which can help me accomplish my goal. My goal is to strengthen my appreciation for social and cultural effects on the delivery of healthcare through exposure in a clinical setting. To achieve this, I plan on spending this upcoming Christmas in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam for two weeks total. For week one I will be able to shadow a local Doctor and/or nurse and observe operations, provide assistance in basic procedures and visit patients before and after surgery, as well as any other tasks offered or required by the local staff. For week two I will have the opportunity to work in institutions caring for children and young people affected by Agent Orange, in schools, hospitals and community clinics looking after mentally disabled children. I am beyond excited and thrilled for this expedition to gain experience, knowledge and build relations. One would think volunteering abroad is free, however, it is not, but I believe you can’t put a price tag on the experience that I will gain. I need help with my plane ticket (which is the most costly of this all) and roughly $380 for accommodations, meals, water and transportation. This summer I am currently working two jobs to help with this trip, but I would TRULY appreciate any help at all. Thank YOU for your time!!
