Elf Day 2024: Festive Fundraising for Good Causes

| 6 min read Uncategorized

Elf Day 2024 is a fun, festive and enjoyable way of raising money.

It is a Christmas-themed day of fundraising and is intended to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Anyone can get involved – even if you can’t take part on the day. Thousands of people across the UK will dress up as elves to raise money and awareness – and so can you.

If you want to get involved in Elf Day 2024, here is all the information you need to get started.

What is Elf Day?

Elf Day was originally set up in support of Alzheimer’s Society to raise awareness of dementia-related causes.

But, the day can be used as a creative opportunity for you to raise money for any cause that’s important to you.

Elf Day is centred around dressing up as elves or incorporating elf-related activities into your day. It’s a great chance to spread festive cheer and support a cause that you’re passionate about.

How Elf Day makes a difference

Elf Day can really go a long way in making a difference. Funds raised can go directly to help people and change individual lives.

Alzheimer’s Society does amazing work to help families up and down the country. The charity invests funds into ground-breaking research into better ways of treating and caring for people with dementia. It also campaigns for a more equitable society.

In 2023, the charity says:

  • 71,000 people reached out to the charity’s Dementia Support Line.
  • 34,000 calls to combat loneliness through its Companion Calls were made by volunteers
  • 8,624 safeguarding cases were intervened on, helping to protect some of the most vulnerable people from neglect, abuse and harm.

GoFundMe fundraisers relevant to Elf Day also go a really long way in raising awareness and getting the message across about the fundraising day, as well as the work the Alzheimer’s Society do.

How to get involved in Elf Day 2024

The easiest way to fundraise for Elf Day is to dress up, which can be as simple as wearing a festive jumper and donning an elf hat. But that’s not the only way you can take part.

You can also take part through games and fundraising ideas, with fundraising packages on offer to help you get started. You can get your fundraising pack here, for free.

You can also organise your own fun Elf Day. This could be anything from a bake sale, to a quiz or a coffee morning.

To take part, you must be over 16 years old. If you are under 16, we recommend organising your Elf Day with a responsible adult such as a parent, guardian or teacher who can sign up and pay in donations for you.

Dress up and spread the cheer

You can be as creative as you like when dressing up and getting involved.

The main theme of the day is dressing as one of Santa’s elves. But you can take this theme and run with it.

There’s lots of festive ways you could dress up, or you can simply wear small elf accessories to everyday outfits.

You can also incorporate festive decorations, food and drinks.

Plan a fundraising event

You can take the reins and host your own fundraising event. In doing so, you can get your local community involved and help to raise awareness.

If you’re stumped about how to get started, here are some fundraising ideas:

  • Hosting an elf-themed party at work or with friends – You can do this at home, in a venue near you and control the size of the event
  • Organising a bake sale featuring Christmas treats.
  • Doing a sponsored elf run or walk.
  • Setting up an online fundraising page for Elf Day contributions – This can be as simple as setting one up and spreading the word. All you need is a title, image and brief description about why you’re fundraising.

Get social and spread the word

One of the most important things about getting involved in Elf Day 2024 is spreading the word and raising awareness about why you’re dressing up and fundraising.

This can be done by sharing your fundraiser among your social circles, word of mouth and by posting about your fundraiser or event on social media.

You can also encourage people who are taking part and getting involved to share Elf Day photos and activities on social media.

When sharing, it can be an opportunity to engage people further. This can be done by explaining why it is you’re fundraising, what Elf Day is and what the Alzheimer’s Society does.

Don’t be afraid to link to the official channels when doing so either. This can be through Elf Day itself or the charity.

Tips for a successful Elf Day fundraiser

Fundraising is an easy and accessible thing to do.

It can be tough to know where to get started though, so here are some fundraising tips.

Setting fundraising goals

It’s important that you set realistic fundraising targets, based on your network and community.
