Start fundraising for the London Marathon

The London Marathon 2025 is just around the corner – so take some time to read up on how you can start fundraising on GoFundMe for your marathon journey. It’s free to start a GoFundMe and the earlier you start, the more time you have to gather donations. Good luck and happy running!

How to get started with your London Marathon fundraising

Getting started on your London Marathon fundraising journey couldn’t be easier with GoFundMe. It’s free to start a fundraiser and because GoFundMe is a custom-built crowdfunding platform, we have plenty of features to make it easy for you.

To start a GoFundMe, you just need to follow this link. You’ll be prompted to add in fundraiser details and set your goal, which can be changed at any time. If you’re fundraising for a registered charity you can add them here too, meaning the money will be directly transferred to them. For a successful fundraiser it’s important to write a good fundraiser story, putting in as much detail as you feel comfortable with about why you’re raising money. Pick a good main image, too.

Next, share the link to the fundraiser on your social media, with family, friends, colleagues, other parents at school, people at your gym… anyone who comes to mind. Utilise your group chats and share as much as you can. Remember to post updates on your journey to your fundraising page (perhaps on how your training is going!). It’s also really important to thank your donors.
