Bethany's Lifesaving Medication
Our adopted Korean born daughter, Bethany has a rare disease called Central Neurohypophyseal Diabetes Insipidus. Without the lifesaving medication called DDAVP, she would have no life. She would drink over five and a half gallons of fluid per day, dehydrate completely in an hour and a half if there was no source of fluids, her body temperature would cause her to shake uncontrollably, her hair would begin to fall out,she would stop eating, seizures could occur as well as multiple organ failure. The cost is astronomical. It is $2,400.00 for each prescription. There is no cure, only this medication for her to able to live normally. Our insurance has changed and her Dad has been out of work for 2 years. We have gone through all appeal processes to lower the cost. The insurance will only cover generic and unfortunately, Bethany has developed a desensitization to the generic and can only take the name brand. We contacted the State Insurance Administration, our senator, our delegate, the manufacturer, compounding labs, places like Needymeds.org,and Canada to no avail. Won't you please join us in praying for our daughter and consider helping with the medication costs? If Bethany is able, in the future, to have coverage, all extra funds will be used for research for Diabetes Insipidus or others with this disease who are in need.
Thank you for your support and prayers,
The Davis Family
