Achilles the Rottweiler

Donation protected
Achilles was bit by a snake in our back yard. We had no clue at the time. He isn’t an outside dog. He only goes out when we open the door for him to use the restroom. He showed no signs at time of being bitten. When we woke up the next morning he wasn’t his normal peppy self. We went straight to the vet. The observed that he had a 105 degree fever and swelling on his neck. After blood test and sample from neck taken it was determined that Achilles had been bitten by a snake. At that time we were sent home with antibiotics. The next day Achilles neck opened and started draining the infection. The hole in his neck opened to 3 inches in diameter within 24 hours. He was rushed back to vet and taken to surgery. The second picture above shows the outcome of that surgery. After removing all the dead tissue he was left with over 250 stitches in his chest. We were sent home again. Within another 24 hours all the skin that held the 250 stitches had died as well ( see 3rd picture/ VERY GRAPHIC) .The normal vets say there is nothing that can be done by them. There is not enough skin to close him up. They have stated that Achilles needs to see a specialist at University of Florida vet clinic where the specialize in skin grafts. I have contacted them directly and was advised to open this account. We are in no way looking for handouts. We have paid close to $1500 within the last 7 days to make sure Achilles is ok. This is a last chance. I am personally caring for his open wounds hourly. I have to get him into this specialist before infection sets in.
