Shirley’s House Mutual Aid Fund was established in honor of my own mother, who was a single mom. Like so many mothers, Shirley tried her best, but struggled to provide for her family’s basic needs.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, single mothers have been especially affected as single-income households supporting multiple children. Income has decreased while bills, groceries, rent, and personal needs continue.
Shirley’s House Mutual Aid Fund will be able to provide financial assistance to single moms in the Bay Area. We will issue stipends of $50-$300 to help keep these families clothed, fed, and afloat.
One of the best ways we can fight this pandemic is to support those of us who are most vulnerable.
