Yesterday around 7:15 pm June 7th 2021, my girlfriend and I were on the highway going to the gym after coming from work and practicum ( my girlfriend goes to university for dental , works and does her practicum) when a truck suddenly out of no where rear ended us at a very high speed while we were driving 90km/h. We spun out in multiple circles at dangerously fast speed, thankfully we didn’t hit anything. The driver in the truck continued to speed away and never even looked back. After the accident there were many by standers, who rushed to help us, thank you to everyone of them. My girlfriends head smashed Into the wheel (we were of course wearing our seatbelts) and she was rushed by ambulance to nanaimo general where she received 25 stitches on her face as well as other injuries. After being on the phone all morning with Icbc , police and lawyers it looks like we will not be getting money to replace her car. She did not have collision ( we both thought she had collision , lesson learned). It also takes money to pay up front for our medical and dental needs. We have a hard time asking for help but we live by ourselves and both have to take time off work and get a new car and recover. Anyone who knows us know how hard we work and any little bit helps. We also are going to donate 5 percent of whatever we raise to m.a.d.d. Please let’s do something to make a difference, everybody leaves a footprint maybe we can leave ours here.
