Jasiel Favors

Beyond fighting to regain movement and sensation in his body from the chest down, Jasiel has been fighting to keep his spirits up. What was once the messy room of a 16 year old young man, is now full of medical equipment, a hospital bed, 24/7 nursing care, and a kid who sometimes simply needs to just get out of the house. Jay's mom, Debra, is a single mother who, since Jay's injury, has lost her job due to Jay's unanticipated hospitalizations, rehab and doctor visits, and unexpected complications requiring her to drop what she's doing to be by Jay's side. Jasiel is now quadriplegic, but is determined to do whatever it takes to be able to move his hands and feet again.

Currently, Debra is not physically able to lift Jay in and out of the car on her own, and cannot safely position him without him being in his custom wheelchair. We are wanting to get Jay to a small group at church, would like to make getting him to doctors and rehab appointments safer and easier, and would simply like for him to have more opportunities to get out of the house.

More than anything, we truly appreciate your prayers. If you are financially unable to help, but know somebody who might be able to help with a wheelchair accessible van, that would be hugely appreciated. I have been researching wheelchair vans and feel $15,000 should be enough to cover a used, but safe and reliable van for Jay.
