Sonora Hebrew Cemetery Wall Rebuild

Tax deductible
The Sonora Hebrew Cemetery, built by pioneer Jews in 1853, remains to tell the story of the pioneers who came to California during the Gold Rush.  The Commission holds title and maintains this cemetery, as one of seven pioneer Jewish cemeteries, in the Gold Rush area.  A portion of the wall surrounding the cemetery is failing and needs rebuilding. Please join us in preserving California's pioneer Jewish history by contributing to this project.  We hope to restore this wall by spring 2017. The pioneers laid the groundwork for our future.  We wish to honor them and educate others of the importance of those who preceded us.  Thank you for helping preserve pioneer Jewish history!
