31 Mile Bear Crawl x The Hidden Opponent

Hello Everyone! My name is James Boria, and I am from Long Island, New York. On October 7th of 2022 I will be setting a world record by bear crawling 31 miles through the streets of New York City.

 

For this event, I will be raising money for a non-profit organization named The Hidden Opponent. As a former athlete, and current mindset/strength coach, mental health is something that is extremely important to me, and something I feel needs to be brought into a much bigger light. The Hidden Opponent organization works towards spreading awareness, and supporting athlete mental health through the current stigmas surrounding it.

 

As an athlete, it can be daunting to face mental struggles due to the standard at which athletes are held. Athletes are always expected to perform to the highest standard, push through personal struggles silently, and maintain the image of being mentally tough even when it's the hardest thing to do.

 

Together, as individuals and through this bear crawl, we can allow many athletes to feel confident in being open about their struggles knowing they are not alone. Each and every one of us has faced a mental battle along the way, and it's important to know that you always have someone in your corner. Athlete or not, mental health plays a prominent role in our lives, and by bringing awareness to it on all levels we can begin to grow together.
