4x4x48 challenge for MS
Tax deductible
My name is Aaron Johnson. In October of 2018 my mom, Jeana Johnson, began showing symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Initially, my mom began having random symptoms - falling, numbness on the right side of her body, and she lost the ability to hold a pen and write with her right hand. In November of 2018 my mom had her first MRI. In January, her ninth MRI revealed that she had lesions on her spine, which required a spinal tap, which finally lead to a diagnosis of MS.
Since her initial diagnosis, my mom has had to completely change the way she lives. The way the disease works she never knows when it's going to hit. Some days she has almost full mobility; she can drive, walk without her cane, and even hold her water cup with one hand. On other days it may take her over an hour to get out of bed because her muscles wont react the way her brain is asking them to. My mom's strength and perseverance in the face of MS has been an inspiration to me.
On March 5th-7th I'll be participating in the David Goggins 4x4x48 Challenge - https://www.gogginschallenge.com/. I'll be running four miles, every four hours, for 48 hours to raise funds for MS Cure Fund in their quest to find a cure and help support those suffering from MS https://www.mscurefund.org/about_us. My goal is to raise at least $1000.
MS Cure Fund is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing understanding of Multiple Sclerosis and its debilitating symptoms; providing help and information to newly diagnosed patients; raising badly needed funds to research for a cure. MS Cure Fund was founded in 2004 by an MS patient who experienced difficulty accessing support for newly diagnosed MS patients in her local community and committed herself to making a difference for others.
