Need A Leg Up

Sometimes life throws you a curve ball and it knocks you off for awhile. You get sick for a time, you lose your job or your furnace gives way and needs replacing... These types of curve balls, when they take place impacts us in different ways. It takes us time to get back up. But you do get back up. However, once in a while, you get many curve balls and getting back up becomes harder and that’s when you need a leg up.
This is the situation that Alan and Kathy find themselves in.
All their lives they have made it a point to manage their financials well. They have just had too many curve balls. Getting up has been a struggle to a pace that has been debilitating and they need our help to get back up.
Alan and Kathy have both lost their jobs many times these past few years and found new jobs. But lately, only Kathy has found a part-time job with no health insurance. Alan, however, has had cancer and gone through chemo and had many hospitalizations these past few years. Too many that he has lost his job. Though he has been healed of cancer, the chemo has introduced a lot of complications for Alan that he is now unable to work long term. He is now on a life vest which cost $3,800 a month to rent through his insurance along with expensive medicines to keep him alive. However, his cobra is about to run out and transitioning to the VA healthcare system has been difficult because of the complicated VA processes that exist. He is currently facing a threat of not having the medicine he needs to keep his heart pumping correctly (Entresto) because he is losing cobra and the medicine costs about $70/day without insurance among all other medicines he needs.
In parallel, because of the many medical curve balls, Kathy and Alan are also struggling to pay down medical bills and credit card debt due to the many past critical medical procedures and hospitalizations they have had to put on credit because of not having appropriate coverage. And there are a new set of medical bills coming as a result of Alan’s latest medical episode.
There is a big chance Alan is going to need a pacemaker in the next few weeks which will require another medical procedure with more medical bills which will further compound their predicament.
They are at a point that they truly need our help.
