The 12kms of Christmas
So, for the last few months, myself Tommy, H and Paddy have been getting together for a Thursday night run. We normally go out for about an hour, talk football, music and put the World to rights. It also provides us with some much needed exercise and headspace.
Last week, (18.11.21) post run, Tommy announced that he had a really good idea and fancied doing some sort of a running challenge. The 12kms of Christmas was born. So the challenge is as follows, on Christmas day we will run 1km, Boxing day we will run 2km etc up until January 5th where we will run 12km. This equates to running 78km across 12 days, so will be a real test for our knees and our friendships!
To make this challenge more worthwhile, we are doing it to raise money for Young Minds. Young Minds are a mental health charity for children, young people and their parents, making sure all young people can get the mental health support they
In the UK today, an estimated five children in every classroom has a mental health problem. A quarter of 17 year-old girls have self-harmed in the last year while suicide remains the single biggest killer of boys and young men. But things can get better.
Young Minds provide young people with tools to look after their mental health and they empower adults to be the best support they can be to the young people in their lives.
As well as welcoming donations we are also looking for people to come with us on this challenge, you don't have to do all the runs with us but why not join us at some point along the way.
