Devyn's Fight With Cancer
Donation protected
In January 22, 2018, only two weeks after his 18th birthday, Devyn was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. His first surgery removed a huge tumor from his jaw and used a prosthetic plate and fibula bones from each leg to rebuilt his smiling face. Months later more cancer was found and second surgery was completed. During chemotherapy Devyn went to his senior prom and achieved his goal of graduating from John Glenn High School in Westland, Michigan. When Devyn was diagnosed cancer-free he came to school proclaiming victory. A victory that was short lived. In March of 2019 the cancer returned. By April 23rd the tumor on his neck paralyzed his arm. Doctors said radiation would not help this form of cancer, but his mother insisted. The radiation shrunk the tumor enough and after 24 physical therapy session he was able to move his arm. August 20 thru September 23 radiation continued on tumors under his chin and behind his left ear. September 28 Devyn woke up with his legs paralyzed. The MRI shows tumors attacking his spine and lungs. September 29 radiation was started again in hopes that he will walk again. Devyn first needed a wheelchair and a ramp, but he deserves much more. His dreams are simple but difficult to obtain without your help. Devyn can no longer work cleaning office buildings and his mom stays by his side as it should be.
Devyn is a ray of sunshine complete with a smile that will win you over immediately. And he always smiles, even now. He is the most determined individual I have ever met. For four years he woke up early, took multiple buses and walked an additional mile to the high school he loves.Even now from his hospital bed he talks about missing school. This has been a long battle and as with any war, Devyn and his mom need support. Please help this family. Help Devyn achieve his dreams. December 1, 2019 Devyn has lost his long and courageous fight to cancer. Devyn was the most sweetest and strongest kid and he never gave up faith. Through this long process Devyn never lost his smile and by doing so he uplifted everyone around him. As the family prepare for this tragedy we are asking for help for the funeral/burial costs. Any donation would be greatly appreciated and go towards giving Devyn the proper send off he deserves. Thank you in advance !
