Below is Corey's story that he posted on facebook on the 26th June 2020. For those of you who may not know me I am Corey' cousin and I have set up this go fund me page to raise money for Corey due to his life changing operation. I have had a chat with Corey and he has decided that he would like all donations to be donated to Monklands renal unit. Corey has chosen this because he would like to show his appreciation towards the hospital, his consultant and the nurses who have pulled him through this. please feel free to donate as little and as much as you can. below is Corey's story. Thank you so much, Nicole x Corey's story: On the 26th June 2020 a STRANGER saved my LIFE! Well some of you might know and some might not... I HAD A KIDNEY TRANSPLANT LAST NIGHT! This all started whilst in the army and I lost my dream job because of it! Luckily enough now, I found one I absolutely love! In December 2019 I received news that sent me into a fragile state of mind and depression. I was told at 22 years old I had to be put onto dialysis to survive. I started home dialysis which was the end of my world as I knew but fortunately this wee machine and line has saved my life for the past 7 months. On Thursday night I received a call out of the blue to say they found me a match!! After what seemed like a lifetime I went into surgery last night and have woken up with a brand new kidney. I can finally start living my life again! I can’t explain the emotional distress I have been through but I know one thing for sure...I would not have made it if it wasn’t for the amazing nurses at the hospital that have saved my life over the best part of a year..My amazing beautiful girlfriend I know I haven’t been easy to put up with and she has seen me cry and felt like I couldn’t go on but she never gave up on me when she didn’t have to deal with it, we are such a strong couple and I love you❤️My amazing mum and dad ! These are two people who have constantly been there helping with everything from ordering dialysis, and keeping my diet on track, the constant arguing because I was venting for which I am forever sorry for. These two perfect human beings gave me the gift of life and were willing to give a kidney to a stranger to save me and I will be forever in debt to you for that! I love you two ❤️My amazing auntie carol who has been through thick and thin for me! Offering to give one away when she didn’t need to! At the start of lockdown she took me in with open arms and made sure I had everything! I love you ❤️ To the rest of my family who all check up on me to keep me positive and always worry about me! ❤️Chloes family have taken me in like one if there own and always check on me to make sure I’m on a good path when they didn’t have to ! I have worn a winner with you’s❤️Remember always check up on your friends in tough times! You never know what they are going through... I never told people about this due how sad, down and ashamed I was feeling. Onwards and upwards this is a fresh start and I have the best people around me to get me there ❤️❤️
