Help Ezra get Top Surgery!

Hi! My name is Ezra and I’m a trans man from the UK and im fundraising for top surgery.

I came out as trans when I was 17 and I’ve been binding ever since, so just about 5 years now. For those of you who have never had to bind, it’s a life saving piece of clothing for trans mascs that helps flatten our chests. That said, I have destroyed my ribs. When I first came out I was so dysphoric and uncomfortable that I would bind for days straight (sleep, even shower) and I have damaged my ribs. It got to a point where I couldn’t bind longer than a couple of hours without being in excruciating pain. It’s a little better now but not by much. I have pretty constant rib and back pain but I can’t stop binding, if I didn’t bind my chest I would be unable to go outside, literally.

I need top surgery, I don’t think life changing is a strong enough word for the difference it would make. I fantasise about being able to just put a t shirt on and feel the fabric against my chest. I imagine what it would be like to be able to walk around without shirt on without wanting to crumple into a ball.

I have been on the NHS waitlist since I came out and I haven’t even had an initial appointment in those 5 years, let alone be anywhere near surgery. The NHS shocking waitlists for trans people is a post for another day though. It embarrasses me to have to ask for help, but I am not able to do this on my own. I have tried, ever since I got my first job to save. I put money away but I always have to dip into it to survive each month. It’s like pushing a boulder uphill. I struggle to afford my testosterone each month (and frankly wouldn’t if it wasn’t for the help of a lovely family member) and the £9k I would need for top surgery I will never be able to afford.

So, I’m setting up a go fund me, there is of course no pressure at all donate! I know more than anyone that money is tight and people aren’t in a position to help sometimes. But, if you can help, even £1, I would be eternally grateful.
