Help Doña Olga get a Truck
Donation protected
Doña Olga RuÃz Cañez, of Imuris, Sonora, Mexico needs your help. An indigenous herbalist of northern Mexico, she has been wildcrafting plants for food and medicine and to support her family since the 1950's. With the help of her son, Óscar, they travel to distant mountain ranges, seashores, ranches, and village festivals throughout the year to make a living and carry on the art of regional herbalism in Sonora. Unfortunately, the little Datsun just won't make it up the hill anymore ("I think I can, I think I can, . . . ") despite Óscar's countless attempts to resourcefully get it back on the road. They are in immediate need of a reliable vehicle to carry them through the mountains this spring in search of plant medicines and other items which they make a modest living from. Numerous vehicles are available for them to purchase locally (in Sonora) at good prices. We hope to provide them with the funds to complete a purchase as soon as possible and enable them to get back on the green road!
*Note: Any funds received in excess of the purchase price of the vehicle will be held in a fund for future repairs and needed maintenance on the vehicle.
