Medical & Travel Expenses for the Haynes

I met La Raina & her beautiful son a month ago when she hired me to take maternity portraits. Even though family funds are tight, La Raina spent a little extra that month (I pretty much just had her cover my traval expenses to fly to Oahu) to capture images of herself and her son to share with her husband, since he was unable to be with them throughout her pregnancy. La Raina’s husband serves in the military and is currently stationed overseas. From the very start of our communication via emails, I fell in love with this sweet lil family. Meeting them in person only made me fall in love with them more. La Raina is a kind and brave woman who is raising her children pretty much on her own. Due to his military obligations, her husband is only able to come home once or twice a year. Although his ten day family leave was approved, daddy missed the birth when his son arrived a month ahead of schedule. Kalani Malu Haynes was born last week with multiple health challenges and immediately flown from Oahu to Seattle Children's Hospital for better care. At present, a rare and undiagnosed infection is causing his liver to shut down. His blood has lost its ability to clot, and his swollen liver is pushing upwards into his lungs. He is on constant oxygen and receiving regular plasma and blood transfusions to keep him alive. It is very expensive for mother and brother to be able to stay with baby Kalani in Seattle. Hopefully father will be able to join the family soon. I spoke with La Raina this morning and told her I wanted to send her a donation.. She said she did not have a site set up and asked me to help. All donation go direcly to La Raina. With medical expenses growing daily, donations of any size would be greatly appreciated.
