Melanie's Medical Fund
Donation protected
As many of you know, my name is Melanie. I am 25 years old and I have struggled with chronic illness for several years now. After many years of ongoing visits to specialists and frequent and varied lab testing and procedures, I had still gotten no closer to diagnosing the root cause of my illness. This year has been particularly difficult: losing fluids daily, losing weight rapidly, and losing quality of life both in sleeping and waking hours. My family and partner have been immense forms of support during this challenging time, and we have pressed on to find answers.
Finally, a diagnosis has been made and we have discovered that a bacterial infection, call SIBO, has been growing in my small intestine for nearly 5 years. The infection has caused widespread inflammation, neurological pain, sleep disruption, lowered immune response, and an inability to digest most food.
We are so thankful to learn that this infection is treatable. Treatment, however, has several lengthy phases, is very expensive, and is not covered by insurance. I have only been able to work part time for several years due to my condition and will need to take a temporary leave of absence during treatment. I'm finding myself unable to afford the cost of necessary treatments, so I am here reaching out for help.
Any donations received through this campaign will be applied directly to medical visits, necessary prescriptions and treatment therapies. Funds are most needed and appreciated during the following couple months, as I must begin treatment as soon as possible.
It is difficult for me to put into words how profound it would feel to be able to return to a state of health and well being. Please make a donation if you feel inspired to support me on my journey toward health. Any acts of generosity or kind words of encouragement are immensely appreciated, as I cannot do this alone.
"Thank you," does not fully express the abounding gratitude I feel in response to the support of my family, friends, and community.
