Oakley's Double-Knee TPLO Surgery

Many of you have known Oakley since I adopted him back in December 2014. He is always such a happy  and loving dog and I know my life would not be the same without him. He truly is my best friend.

At the beginning of the year I had knoticed Oakley was having difficulty walking, especially in his back leg leg. He wasn't putting weight on that leg and even began to hop around everywhere. It was painful to watch him like this so back in February we made our first of many visits to a vet to have this issue checked out. After a brief physical exam and a few xrays we recieved confirmation that he had completely ruptured his CCL (similar to a human ACL)on his back left leg. The prognosis was that he was going to need a TPLO surgery (tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy; a surgery performed on dogs to stabilize the stifle joint after ruptures of the cranial cruciate ligament . This procedure, as we were told, was going to give him the ability to run and jump again. And due to the knee showing Arthritis now this procedure was even going to halt the progression of the Arthistis - which is awesome! But unfortunately this surgery is a major one both anatomically speaking and monetary speaking. It was a tough number to swallow when the told me the estimate of the surgery for one leg; $3000.

After many nights of crying and processing and more crying and more processing I decided that I wanted to give him the best life possible with the final years he has so I began some research into second opinion both for the surgery prognosis and the estimate. After multiple visits to numerous vets we were able to find a trusted vet clinic/surgeron that was able to do the surgery for $2800. Which I'll take it since as of September we got our second confirmation that Oakley had torn his right leg CCL. To me that was a $400 savings seeing as I am going to have to do two legs now.

It is truly humbling to me to have to reach out to friends and family for monetary assistance but I'm hoping and praying Oakley has touched your lives as much as he has mine. All I want to do is give him back the best life he deserves.

If you could please help me with paying for his medical costs of the surgeries ($5600) he and I would forever be grateful and appreciative. And if you ever get the chance to visit Oakley (for the first time or again) I'm sure he would pay it back ten-fold with his love and affection.

I want to say thank you so much to everyone in advance! It means the world to me to have a such a wonderful support system! God Bless!
