Education for Empowerment!

The San Diego Reentry Roundtable Education Subcommittee is hosting an education symposium on September 14th, 2023 at San Diego City College from 10AM to 2PM.

The goal of the symposium is to increase access to education for those who have been formerly incarcerated. We hope that this symposium also provides a meaningful dialogue with the general public on the barriers to education that those who are system-impacted face.

The theme of the event is Education for Empowerment. The event will feature two keynote speakers: Ryan Flaco Rising and Maria Elena Greeman-Lynde, with a special address from Dr. Beto Vasquez. There will also be a resource fair and a panel to talk about how to overcome the barriers to education from those with firsthand experiences.

We believe that it is important to compensate those with lived experience for sharing their stories and time. Your donations will go to paying our speakers and panelists, as well as lunch for those in attendance. We want to keep this event free to attend, as we hope it serves as a helpful resource for those who are system-impacted.
