Help Us Honor Santos Rodriguez Ruiz with a Military Honors Funeral

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Santos Rodriguez Ruiz, born January 1, 1970, who left us on July 23, 2024. Santos, a towering figure full of love, will always be remembered as a man of immense kindness, even in times of personal adversity.

Santos leaves behind his sons Santos Rodriguez Jr. and Roberto Rodriguez, his daughter Siera Rodriguez, sons-in-law Edgar Figueroa, Felton James, Leroy James, and daughters-in-law Ivy Figueroa. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on through their deeds and memories. He was predeceased by his loving mother, Carmen Rodriguez Ruiz, and father, Santos Rodriguez Ramos.

Santos was a man of simple pleasures. He relished homemade meals, found solace in the profound wisdom of The Bible, and enjoyed the uplifting music of James Blunt, especially 'Beautiful'. An avid fan of basketball, Santos enjoyed both watching and playing the sport. He cherished moments spent with family and friends, found peace running 5 miles daily, and loved spending time at the beach, his favorite vacation spot.

One of Santos’ most notable accomplishments was his honorable service in the Navy. He served as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate (AD3) with the HC 4 SEA COMP unit, displaying exceptional dedication and skill. His service took him around the world and earned him numerous decorations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Achievement Medal (3), Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Navy Good Conduct Medal (3). Despite his service-related disabilities, he remained devoted to his family and friends, taking care and honoring both of his parents in their final years.

To honor Santos’ life and legacy, we wish to bring him back from Puerto Rico for a military honors funeral at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. This ceremony is a final tribute to his service and dedication, reflecting the profound respect and love we have for him.

We are seeking to raise $1,500 to cover the costs of transporting Santos back to Jacksonville and providing him with the honorable farewell he deserves. Any amount you can contribute will help us achieve this goal and is greatly appreciated by our family.
