"In the Spirit of potlach, this 'grass-roots journey will take us thru the Lhaq'temish traditional territories of Lopez, San Juan and Orcas Islands, traveling our ancestral highways," Sul ka dub (Freddie Lane, Lummi Nation).
Joining Salish Sea canoe families are two canoes from Hawaii and one from Oregon for this celebration of friendship, tradition and the simple pleasure of traveling across the water.
We are collecting funds to provide a hearty Lopez welcome, to provide gifts from local vendors, payment for port-a-potties, and provide support for Canoe Families and supporters.
Note: all events associated with the Canoe Encampment require full vaccination status to protect the elders.
