A Service Dog for Annesley

Hello, beautiful and powerful community of mine!

(First, a tl;dr - I am raising money to help me purchase my next service dog in training.)

I’m coming to you today with an ask for help. Anyone who has ever had to post something like this knows that it’s uncomfortable. It’s hard to admit, even to “my people,” that I need some assistance. But it's time. 

As you may know, I have an amazing partner - Willow, my service dog. She’s been with me through the years, helping me navigate the world and be independent. But she is aging - in December, she’ll be 8 - and her age is slowing her down. I have been searching for her successor for some time now, and was heartbroken when my previous prospect, Felix, washed out this spring. I thought I’d never find Willow’s successor, and I was devastated.

But I am being presented with an amazing opportunity. A friend of mine has started training a puppy who she believes may be an excellent match for me. He shows immense promise, is confident and happy, and may work well as my next service dog. Bridger, his trainer (at Level Up Dog Training), is willing to train him for me until I complete my first semester of law school. This is a chance I never thought I’d get - a fully started puppy from a reputable breeder and wonderful trainer.

Here’s where I need help: This pup, with all of his training, is worth a nice chunk of change. I need to put down a deposit, and as a full-time student/intern, I just don’t have what I need.

This puppy would change my life. Having a solid, well-trained, and confident prospect would allow me and Willow transition as seamlessly as possible into Willow’s retirement. He would allow me to continue living independently and to keep pursuing my dreams of completing law school once she retires. He would take over her role, and go with me wherever I go to help mitigate my disabilities.

So I’m here, asking for your help. Any amount you can spare to help me remain independent and healthy would absolutely mean the world - to me, to Willow, and to the boy who may fit with us.
