A Vaquero’s Last Ride
My Dad, Derek Brinker, spoke to his family for the last time December 16, 2019. He left his home in El Jibarito Tijuana, on route back to The US to start a new work week in Orange County. This was the beginning our families’ frantic search for him. As we desperately sought out any link to where he could be, another couple from the same area went missing in Tijuana. Thanks to Norma Lopez and her diligence, on January 17th, her parents were found slain on their property . Our hearts break for her and her family. Authorities later found 3 others buried inside the home. January 24th, we were asked the unfathomable- the Authorities believed the remains found were my Father’s, and they needed a DNA test to confirm. Through her tragedy, we were able to find our Dad. However we are now expecting weeks and months to come of uncertainty as the investigation continues. With his unexpected loss, comes many other expenses as well such as legal fees, travel costs, and giving our Dad, lovingly nicknamed ‘El Vaquero Negro’ his Last Ride home.
My siblings and I are asking for help and support to bring our Dad home. Help us bring Him home, from Mexico to the US, so that he may truly rest in Love.
