Abdul's Start-up Painting Business

Hi. I am Graeme Brazenor, a Melbourne neurosurgeon, and I am crowdfunding on behalf of a wonderful medical colleague who migrated from Afghanistan in 2000 with his wife. They now have two lovely children, as pictured.
I had Abdul accompany me in my practice during 2003 as he attempted to fulfil the requirements for medical registration in Australia, and when I last had contact with him I assumed that he would be successful: he struck me as an intelligent, well-educated, empathic doctor who would be an asset to Australia. However I was considerably disappointed to discover recently that Abdul was never able to secure a supervised internship in Victoria, which was a pre-requisite for registration.
A naturalised Australian and holder of an Australian passport, Abdul has been working since as a house-painter, for what seem to me to be sub-award wages. He desperately wants to start his own business, but at his current rate of pay cannot save the >$20,000 that he needs to set himself up. -This is where I come in. I have started this fund to try and set up a respected colleague, who is now innured to the fact that to support his family he must become an excellent house-painter. Will you help? I have kicked off the fund with $2,000.
Please help this wonderful human being in his second career. It is my strong feeling that we are very fortunate to receive migrants of the quality of my friend Abdul.
