Project: Himalayan Horizon
Promoter: Accessible Himalayas
Purpose: Start a new company for tourism and sports which are truly fully accessible and suitable for seniors and other travelers with a disability
First property: “Himalayan Horizon”, 30 kms away from Kathmandu, capital city of Nepal
Activities: Resorts and providers of adventure sports
Team of Founders – all wheelchair users – 3 in Nepal, 1 in Canada
While conceiving the project we envisage the following benefits:
· Gainful employment to persons with a disability with optimum use of their talents
· Exposure to the tourist to an area of rich traditions, an ancient culture, nature at its best
· Create a model accessible resort that can be replicated in other locations considered “exotic” and “off the beaten track”
· Provide big-city comforts in a peaceful, rural environment
· Nepal is an unspoilt destination but has no suitable infrastructure for a PWD
***
What we have done so far
- Website is 90% ready, with unique accessible features - we invite you to take a look
- The 4 rooms are 90% ready and can be got ready in 3-4 weeks
- For the proposed expansion, we plan 4 more rooms
***
Why we need money now
- The project has been completed to its present state entirely with the resources of the founders
- Traditional investors shy away from a start-up venture by disabled entrepreneurs
- There is no support from sponsors and corporations at present
Amount needed
Considering the current state of readiness, we estimate that an amount of $15,000 will be sufficient to complete Phase I by end January 2016. We propose to have a soft launch and start taking in guests. The rooms are in an advanced stage of readiness and would be fully ready with the installation of the last lot of furnishings and equipment.
As soon as we begin commercial sales, there will be interest from investors and lenders.
Summary
The funds are required to complete the project for the soft launch. The funds now being raised will be used only for the most pressing needs. Full transparency will be ensured in all expenses to be incurred.
Our greatest reward will be timely completion of the rooms and ensuring that all accessibility requirements are met.
We were extremely diffident in approaching you. As persons with a disability, there are a million personal needs which are currently on the back burner.
The funds raised will NOT be used for personal needs. 100% of your contribution will find a worthwhile use. Please give whatever you can to this cause.
