Aiden's Journey with a rare Cancer

Hello Everyone,
My name is Aisha Mays, My family and I recently found out that Aiden, at only 15 years old, has cancer called a Sarcoma.
What is a Sarcoma? It is a very rare type of cancerous tumor that grows either in the bones or in the tissue. It is typically found in the limbs of people aged between 10 and 20 years old. If it metastasizes, this cancer can move to other bones or even the lungs and brain. Symptoms include pain, swelling, fever, and tiredness.
Up until a few months ago, Aiden was a normal 15 year old. He is a sophomore at Kenwood high school who loves to play Basketball and was planning on being on the Basketball team. It was a hot summer day in July when I decided to go pick up a few things at the store. As usual I bought more than I planned and had a lot of bags I could not handle. I called Aiden down to help me with all the bags, and this is where it all came to light. Aiden complained that he has pain in his left leg. When he told me that I focused on this left leg, and what I saw has now changed our lives. Aiden had a huge mass on his left thigh. I immediately asked “what the heck is that?” He answered and said “Mom when I did a flip a few months ago I pulled my hamstring.” I said “I am calling your doctor to get that checked ASAP.” Aidens first appointment left us with no answers. His doctor referred us to Orthopedics at Stroger, and they sent Aiden to get a MRI. From there they still did not know what it was. Fortunately the doctor at Stroger went to school with a doctor who specializes in what my son has. The doctor is at Northwestern/ Lurie, one of the top hospitals for pediatric Cancers. Aiden was then diagnosed with a rare aggressive Sarcoma.
Aidens Tumor (Sarcoma) is so large and I was so terrified. I cried everyday (I did not let him see how I was breaking down) asking God why and was God mad at me. His father was taken but I refuse my son to be taken.
With that being said, we are going to need your help. We are looking at months of chemo, radiation, pills, and so many other expenses. Bills are quickly going to overwhelm us. If you donate, you will be helping me give Aiden the best care he deserves. That is my top priority.
I will be keeping this page updated as I get new information.
Thank you, much love, we got this,
